Maintaining your lawn is hard work, but, the benefits will far outweigh the process of starting over every season! Remember those pesky leaves from last fall that are still hanging out on top of your lawn? They might not look like much to you, but to your lawn, they are a huge problem, especially if you’re trying to grow your grass.
Leaving the leaves on top of the grass blades will deny any light from reaching the grass, discouraging any new growth. And if you leave them there long enough, when you rake them away your grass will be unhealthy and weak, creating a prime opportunity for weeds to pop up!
Be aware of the great versatility of lawn grasses and the choices you have. Remember, a quality lawn can make or break your landscape design. If you’re unsure, Green Meadow Landscapes will send out a certified technician to help you determine your grass type.
Worried your lawn isn’t getting enough water? Measure the amount of water applied in a 15 minute watering period using collection devices such as a coffee can or bucket. Adjust the runtime to deliver the required amount for your lawn, which should typically be about an inch per week. You just want to make sure that the water is penetrating the root zone, hydrating and nourishing the roots of the grass for better growth.
